Meet LK Sleat
LK Sleat is ithe leader behind Blue Whale. She studied at MICA, Maryland Institute College of Art, the same kind of institution many of her students aspire to attend. She then spent the next three decades evaluating and developing student work across classroom teaching, national-level AP assessment, and admissions portfolio review. That rare combination of perspectives shapes the insight, rigor, and guidance she brings to every student Blue Whale serves.

What she offers extends beyond admissions strategy. She gives students the experience of being taken seriously as working artists, challenges them to go further than they thought possible, and supports them in developing a creative practice that will serve them long after their applications are submitted.
The students LK works with are at an extraordinary point in their development: skilled enough to approach their work seriously, yet still forming the creative voice that will define them as artists. That combination continually produces work that is thoughtful, distinctive, and often surprising.
